President's Message

Reaching the Next Generation

By Scott Lynch

Anyone who looks around knows that summer is over. Even if the weather has not changed in your area, vacation season is over and kids are back on school playgrounds. These kids have the world of possibilities ahead of them, including potential to impact the future of manufacturing. We just need to meet them where they are.

Manufacturers, including ABMA members, will be hosting events on Manufacturing Day, Friday, October 7, to open their doors and invite their communities to experience today’s manufacturing first hand. During Manufacturing Day, students from elementary through college age will be visit manufacturing facilities throughout the country, perhaps viewing manufacturing live for the first time. This is a simple and fun way to engage the next generation in manufacturing.

It is not too late to host an event! Read the article below for more information and contact me with any questions.

ABMA is also focusing on the future workforce at the 2017 Manufacturers Conference, April 3-5, at the Hyatt Regency Galleria in Houston, TX, where we will invite students from local universities and community colleges to attend a full day of events. Students can take tours of member facilities, network with attendees, and participate in a special Boiler 101 seminar presented by WARE.

ABMA is committed to partnering with our members to address workforce development challenges and we look forward to begin seeing the fruits of our labor!

I encourage you to engage in these initiatives and contact me at [email protected] with any questions or comments.

Until next time,

Scott

These members will open their facilites to their communities to provide education on today’s manufacturing sector and share the leading edge technology in the boiler industry.

Only registered event hosts have access to all of the free event planning and execution resources created by the national co-producers. Resources include templates, videos and checklists, and more.

Manufacturing Day℠ (MFG DAY) is a celebration of modern manufacturing that serves to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. ABMA, in partnership with the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International (FMA) and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), encourages members to host plant tours and events on Friday, October 7, to promote the boiler industry. It's a great opportunity to engage the next generation in your community by educating teachers, professors, administrators and of course, students from local institutions.

“I truly want to thank ABMA for the opportunity to participate in the Passport Book Challenge at the 2016 AHR Expo in Orlando…The Passport Book gave me an ice-breaker and was a great way to begin a dialogue with your members in their booths. Exclusive Opportunities to Promote Your Company in Today’s Boiler - Article Ideas by Sept 23

The fall issue of ABMA's official magazine, Today’s Boiler, will release in November and it's time to secure your editorial spot. Take this opportunity to promote your company to more than 20,000 in the end-user community.

There are numerous ways for our members to participate: advertise, submit an article on a recent project, share a new product launch, and more. Our goal is to have a variety of features in each issue that shares innovation in the boiler industry and educates end-users on our sector.

In the upcoming issue, we are actively seeking submissions for a new section on resources for the end-user. We want to share helpful member tools like cheat sheets, sizing guides, conversion calculators, and links to apps and software.

We also will continue with our Product Showcase section where you can share new products your company has recently released.

Other submission topic ideas for this issue include:

  • The why and how of creating an emergency boiler plan
  • New investment ROI – payback is sooner than you think

As always, feel free to come up with your own ideas! Topic proposals are due by Friday, September 23. All editorial content is due Monday, October 13. Submit all inquiries and content to the Today's Boiler advertising manager and editor, Robert Beverly at [email protected]

Members also receive significantly discounted advertising pricing. Contact Robert Beverly for more information.
